Remodel

When we moved into our house just over a year ago everything was perfect. The house had just been remodeled which made it "move in ready" for us and that was a godsend at the time. There was nothing that had to be done right away....Well, I take that back. The kitchen and bathrooms needed new floors, but that was about it. The only downfall, was that everything was beige and I mean EVERYTHING was beige. The only room in the entire house that wasn't beige was the kitchen, which was a yellow that never really grew on me.

After a few lengthy conversations one night about how the wedding was consuming my EVERY minute and was really stressing me out, we decided that I needed to take a small break and refresh myself. And what would make me happy and get my mind off of wedding planning........redecorating!! Yes, people....redecorating gives me this natural high. I know, I know....you probably think I'm some weirdo.

Last week we started re-decorating our living room. What started out as a simple idea of "let's paint the living room" turned into painting the dining room which then turned into painting the kitchen. Let's just say last week was exhausting to say the least. But, not exhausting in the same way that wedding planning is exhausting. This was more of a physical pain. I have bruises, sore muscles and some minor cuts as proof.

Not only did we paint, but we changed around our furniture. We took the dark brown leather furniture down to the family room in the basement and brought up the white leather furniture. Oh, what a difference this small change made.

We still need to finish putting up the decor on the walls, but overall I'm very happy with the way things turned out.

Hopefully after the wedding we will have time to get our kitchen cabinets painted. We want to paint them white so they flow with the style of the rest of the house.

Here are some before/after shots. I apologize in advance for the quality of the "after" shots. The camera was nowhere to be found so I had to use my iPhone.

Let me know what you think!!

(haha....I just noticed that in both of the kitchen pictures (before and after) that Tucker is on the counter. It is the only place he goes to get away from the dog terrorizing him!!)

Life in the Fast Lane

Oh, how well I remember the days when I would come home from work, kick off my shoes, jump into the nearest pair of yoga paints and hang out on the couch all night.

The past few weeks have been so incredibly crazy. Between working on wedding stuff every weekend (all weekend), dealing with the death (suicide) of my close friends' son, starting a huge home improvement project and work being totally insane with our ISO Audit only a few weeks away.....I barely even know what day it is anymore!

It is so unlike me to have a messy (unorganized) home, and I took a look around this morning and almost had a meltdown. I've got piles of laundry (which I sorted on Saturday and haven't done anything with), dust on every item I can see, our carpets are full of cat/dog hair and do I even need to get into the shape of our bathrooms. Those toilets could definitely use some scrubbing.

I've always been a little compulsive about my cleaning and I obsess over anything being "out of sorts", but for some reason, today I'm just too tired to think about it. Hopefully by the weekend we will be done painting and will be able to get the house back in order and then the cleaning spree will start.

I hate to say this, but life in the fast lane isn't all it's cracked up to be. How I yearn for the days spent on the couch in my yoga pants!!
